The Malaria and Vector-Borne Diseases (MVD) team supports Member States in reducing the burden of malaria, dengue and other vector-borne diseases, and in achieving disease-specific elimination targets where feasible, through evidence-based, integrated and resilient national responses, with an emphasis on reaching the unreached.

This is accomplished by:

  • Strengthening surveillance, outbreak preparedness and response for malaria, dengue and other vector-borne diseases, including across stable and emergency settings
  • Supporting effective case management, vector control and preventive interventions aligned with global and regional strategies, including through integrated delivery within primary health care
  • Providing technical guidance and operational support to develop, implement and monitor national plans, including in high-risk, hard-to-reach and emergency settings.
